KYLA INABA GETS OFF TO A QUICK START AND NEVER LOOKS BACK

Round one leader Kyla Inaba out of Gallagher's Canyon birdied the first hole and then a scores an ace on the par 3 second to take a commanding lead for the rest of the tournament. She fired a blistering front nine 32 with 3 birdies, an eagle, 4 pars and a lone bogey. She then got off to a quick start on the par 5 10th and carded another eagle. She went on to shoot a great score of 6 under par 67 to win the overall low gross title with a score of 8 under par and an 11 shot margin over her nearest competitor. Jen Woods of the Kelowna Golf & Country Cub finished second at 3 over par for the tournament. Last year's defending champion, Haley Cameron shot an opening round 72 but struggled a bit on the back nine today and finished her day with a secon round 81 which got her third place. Chelsey Cooper of the BC Player's Club finished 4th at 8 over par. While Eileen Kelly of Royal Colwood finished 5th at 12 over for the tournament. Kelowna Golf & Country Club's Melanie Grant finished sixth, Cindy Young of Country Hills in Calgary finished 7th. While Debbie Cross and Joanne Grove rounded out the top ten.

It was a great day for scoring with warm temperatures, no wind and beautiful course conditions and Inaba certainly took advantage of the opportunity.

KYLA INABA TAKES THE FIRST ROUND LEAD HEADING INTO THE FINAL ROUNDS

After the first round of the 98 player field it was Kyla Inaba playing out of Gallagher's Canyon with a one shot lead over last year's champion, Kelowna Golf & Country Club's, Haley Cameron. Inaba played a very steady round with a single bogey on the 4th hole and followed it up with birdies on 6,7 and 10 to finish at two under par 71. Haley Cameron finished her round with a birdie to close the gap to a single shot between her and Inaba. One shot behind Cameron and two shots out of the lead is Kelowna Golf & Country Cub's, Jen Woods who shot an even par round of 73.

Most of the field played their golf in calm conditions with a little sprinkle from time to time. The golf course is in great condition and should play nicely heading into tomorrow's final round. The leaders will tee off at 9:06 so should be coming in around 1:30 pm and we will see who will earn the 2011 Champion of the Kelowna Golf & Country Club's, Ladies Invitational.
