Kucher Stages a Late Rally To Grab the Title

Garrett Kucher of Predator Ridge bidied three of the last four holes to shake the bad memory of losing the title in 2016. Kucher took charge of the course with his driver, on the difficult 441 yard 10th hole he had 45 yards to the pin, on the 552 yard par 5 12th he had 105 yards left for his second shot and on the 504 yard 16th which was playing from a further championship tee he had approx. 170 yards left to the green. Nobody here had ever seen people hitting from these spots on the course. Following the round he credited his caddy for picking the correct lines all day and the motivation of being able to play in front of his mom and dad and many friends to capture this childhood dream of becoming the Ogopogo Champion. All day in the heat Kucher stayed cool with a solid front nine score of 34 and was able to better it by one on the back nine to finish his final round and the low round of the day of 67.

The 2012 Champion, Keith Martin playing out of the Harvest Golf Club put up a good challenge as he led the tournament by 2 shots on the 15th tee but when Kucher stepped on the gas and birdied 15, 16, par on 17 and a birdie on 18, Martin could not keep up the pace. Martin finished the tournament with a 54 hole total of 4 under par.

James Casorso out of the Kelowna Golf & Country Club who got in the hunt in 2016 played a great final round to get his total to 3 under par and capture the Low Amatuer Trophy.

Terry Birkholz of the Fairwinds Golf & Country Club captured the Low Net Trophy with a three round total of 213. While Don Brown playing out of Tower Ranch captured the Low Senior Trophy.

Overall the weather was hot, the scoring was great, the course condition was spectacular and the full field of players had a great time. What an event!

Our next tournament, The Men's Open will be held on August 26th and 27th. Download your entry forms from our website and get your entries in today.

Only Five Shots Separate the Top Men

After another beautiful sunny day the golf course played a little tougher in day two. At the end of the second round only 4 players remain under par led by The Harvest Golf Club's Finlay Young at 3 under par. One shot back of Finlay was another player out of The Harvest Golf Club and past Ogopogo winner, Keith Martin. Rounding out the final group to tee off at 2:30 pm on Saturday's final round is Brandon Ortiz of KGCC and Brandon Kucher of Predator Ridge both shooting a two round total of one under par.

Leading the low net category is Casey Sullivan that plays out of the Kelowna Golf & Country Club with a two round net total of 138 which is good enough to hold a one shot lead over Penticton Golf & CC's Kevin Grieve.

The weather looks like it is another favourable day and the conditions are sure to be firm and fast for the final round.

Spectators welcome so come on out and take in some incredible golf on a lovely day.
