Sunshine Ladies Open 38th Annual Tournament

TOURNAMENT SUMMARY & RESULTS

The sold out, full field tournament of 112 players competed in the 38th Sunshine Ladies Open on an absolutely beautiful weekend. The weather and course conditions were perfect for scoring and led to the players having a great weekend of fun, socializing and some great golf.

The 36 hole tournament kicked off with the opening round on Saturday, August 12th in the afternoon followed by our "Party in the Pergola" and our "Boss of the Moss Putting Course Competition". The winner of the putting competition was Brianna May playing out of Gorge Vale. May won in a three way playoff to come out victorious. The players then enjoyed some prizes and a nice banquet dinner before heading home to rest up for the final round on Sunday morning.

The final round of the tournament was definintely a hard fought battle for the Overall Gross Champion where first round leader Jessica Claggett from Two Eagles held a one shot lead after a bogey on the 17th hole in the final round. On 18 green (the final hole) she faced a very speedy downhill putt for birdie and hit it just a bit too firm and then ended up not making her par and settling for a bogey. Her playing partner and runner up Brianna May of Gorge Vale was not able to get her par and finished the last hole with a bogey as well sealing the victory for Claggett. Finishing at 1 under par for the tournament Claggett was the only player in the field to finish with a two round gross score total that was under par.

The Overall Low Net Winner was Michele Metcalfe of the Kelowna Golf & Country Club with a blistering net 68 in round one and followed that up with an even better net 66 in round two to finish with a net score of 10 under par.
