Casorso Wins in a Playoff

An exciting finish to the 149 player Kelowna Golf & Country Club Men's Open. The final group (leaders from Round One) were engaged in a see saw battle for most of the entire final round. Through 9 holes it looked as if it was going to boil down to either James Casorso of the Kelowna Golf & Country Club or Lionel Taylor of Sunset Ranch. On the 10th hole Casorso made a par while Taylor made bogey to grab a one shot lead at 5 under par for the Tournament over Taylor. Through the next 7 holes there were birdies, pars and bogeys and what they didn't realize was that there was some strong play taking place ahead of them. Finlay Young of the Harvest Golf Club and Norm Bradley of the Kelowna Golf & Country Club were having great days. Norm Bradley had the low round of the day shooting a 5 under par 67 with a 31 on his front nine to get in the Clubhouse at 3 under par while Finlay Young edged Bradley out by following up his even par Round One with a 4 under par Final Round.

On the eighteenth hole both Casorso and Taylor hit their 2nd shot approaches over the back of the green and both ended up making pars. Casorso made a clutch 10 foot putt to finish his day at 1 under par and 4 under for the tournament and earn a position in the two person playoff with Finlay Young. The sudden death playoff started on the 15th hole where both players hit good tee shots left of the flag and made their pars. Moving onto the 16th hole both players hit similar long drives down the left side of the fairway giving them a chance to be aggressive on their second shots. Casorso made birdie on the 16th to win the playoff and the 2016 Men's Open title.

Thank you to all of the players, volunteers, and staff that made this tournament so fantastic!
